Liverpool Zoe’s Place is moving forward with plans for a new purpose-built hospice at Hayman’s Green in West Derby after a major fundraising campaign secured the future of specialist care for babies, young children and their families in the city.
The campaign to secure a new home for the hospice raised £7.5 million after an initial £5 million target, according to Zoe’s Place. The appeal followed concerns over rising construction costs and the end of the lease on the charity’s existing Liverpool building.
A new chapter for Liverpool Zoe’s Place
In May 2025, the Liverpool hospice transferred from Zoe’s Place Trust to a new independent charity, Liverpool Zoe’s Place. The organisation said plans had been finalised for a new hospice at Hayman’s Green, on the site of a former bowling green in West Derby.
The project is intended to provide a modern setting for children with complex medical needs and for families who rely on respite and palliative care. The new facility also represents the continuation of a service whose roots in Liverpool date back to 1995.
Community support remains central
The fundraising campaign was launched with the support of Liverpool West Derby MP Ian Byrne and drew donations and pledges from individuals, businesses and organisations across Liverpool and beyond. Zoe’s Place said the money raised would support both the new building and the ongoing operation of the Liverpool hospice.
That distinction is important: securing capital for a new building does not remove the continuing cost of providing specialist care. The charity continues to depend on public and organisational support as the new West Derby home progresses.
