Four men died following a serious road traffic collision on Liverpool Road in Huyton in the early hours of Friday 24 July 2026, Merseyside Police confirmed.

What Happened
Police said they received a report just before 2am that a black Seat Cupra had come off the road after colliding with a lamppost on Liverpool Road while travelling from Liverpool towards Knowsley.
Two men aged 23 and two other men aged 24 and 26 were pronounced dead at the scene. A 27-year-old passenger was taken to hospital and was reported to be in a stable condition when police issued their appeal later that day.
Police Appeal
Merseyside Police established a scene and introduced road closures while the investigation continued. Officers appealed for witnesses and for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage that could assist enquiries.
The original version of this article focused heavily on road disruption and used sensational language while stating that the extent of injuries was unknown. Police later confirmed that four men had died. This report has been updated to reflect the confirmed facts and to remove speculative descriptions of the collision.
